Funding
Marcus is very conscious that many inmates wrongfully convicted or who are the subject of a miscarriage of justice, do not have the funds to pay for a review of their case. Although Marcus mainly focuses on privately funded cases, he does from time to time take on exceptionally meritorious or intriguing cases that are eligible for legal aid.
However, he finds the sad reality is that legal aid funding can restrict the scope of work that can properly be carried out when reviewing a case in order to ensure that every possible line of enquiry is pursued. Private funding has no such constraints.
Marcus reviews conviction AND sentence cases, as well as applications to the CCRC. He can work either on an hourly rate or can agree a fixed fee in suitable cases.
If you have been wrongfully convicted or you are a victim of a miscarriage of justice and you want your conviction or sentence to be reviewed, please get in touch either by writing to Marcus at Red Lion Chambers, 18 Red Lion Court, London, EC4A 3EB, or use the contact form.
